Typical Pirate Game Designs

By Arvilla C. Bogan

Lots of people like to challenge themselves by playing a pirate game that forces them to develop strong characters and face difficult enemies. The combination of pirate themes and fantasy concepts that is seen in most online games makes for a unique gameplay experience that you cannot find in many genres. There are many types of modern pirate games; some are focused on character and skill development in classic RPG style while others are strategy games that involve large battles that require troop coordination. Many of the latest games are being specially designed for online play so that gamers can interact with others as they develop their characters. No matter which type of game you opt to play, the following tips can help you get the most out of your pirate adventure.

A pirate game designed as an RPG, or role playing game, will force you to concentrate on making your character as strong as possible and teaching them skills that will come in handy when facing battle. Your character will gain experience points which move them toward a higher level every time they beat an enemy, discover a new area, or finish an assigned task. When you gain enough experience and move to the following level, you will be given new skills which you can learn and utilize in battle; you may also be granted access to more powerful weapons.

A strategy based pirate game will have you more concentrated on building a strong ship that can be used effectively when battling enemies. You will have to progressively improve the features of your pirate ship by buying a new mast or sail, upgrading your weapons to be more powerful, and strengthening the hull so you can withstand attacks. Other strategy game elements include massive battles in which you control the entire pirate fleet from an overhead view and plan how to attack your enemy using many ships.

Pirate themed games designed for online play as MMORPG's, or massively multiplayer online role playing games, feature a whole different type of gameplay. As opposed to confronting challenges on your own, these games encourage you to form teams with other players so that you can defeat even the most difficult of enemies.

Selecting simply one pirate game to play can be hard since you have lots of well-designed options to consider. Though they will all feature pirate themes, strategy games, MMORPG's, and role playing games all give you a slightly different gameplay experience.
